This Horseback Riding Salkantay Machu Picchu 3 days 2 nights is located at Cusco, Peru, and our horses are accustomed to the height altitude of the Andes mountains, and also to the type of cold temperature, and they eat the type of grass that grows in these mountains, moreover, these horses are gentle ones with the good saddles and stirrups, and also you get the chance of riding mules from the Andes mountains.

Riding Andean horses through the Salkantay trek to Machupicchu starts from Soraypampa, riding uphill for 3 hours, then arriving at the Salkantay pass.

Then, we ride for an hour and 45 minutes downhill for lunch, and afterwards, we ride for 45 minutes to the campsite called Huayracmachay. The next day, we ride downhill with a gentle part for 4 hours to the lunch place called Ccolpampa.

Then, we ride private transport to the place named hydro-electric train station, then we hike through the nice valley of Machupicchu, shaded by trees to Aguas Calientes town located at 2,000 masl ( 6,561ft).

Afterwards, on day 3 we go to Machupicchu, then in the afternoon back to Cusco city, first by train, then by car.

Itinerary For Horseback Riding Salkantay

Day 1: Cusco Mollepata Then Soraypampa Salkantay Pass Huayracmachay

We pick you up at your hotel in Cusco city at 5:40 am,  then we ride our private car to Mollepata village for 2 hours and a half, then we ride our car for an hour and 35 minutes to Soraypampa place, here we have some breakfast, which is the beginning of the road, then we ride our Peruvian local horses for 3 hours uphill to the Salkantay pass, located at 4600 masl(15,091ft)

After some photos, we ride our horses for 2 hours downhill to our lunch place, then still we ride our horses for 35 minutes to our campsite Wayracmachay.

Day 2: Huayracmachay Ccolpampa Then Train Station And Aguas Calientes Town

Today, we wake you up by 6:am, afterwards some breakfast, then we ride our horses for 3 hours downhill with some nice gentle part, then arrive at our lunch place called Ccolpampa, then some lunch, afterwards, we ride our car for 2 hours and 30 minutes to the train station, named hydro-electric train station.

Then,  we hike for 3 hours aside of the train track, which is a beautiful hike to Aguas Calientes town, for the overnight.

Day 3: Machupicchu Ollantaytambo Cusco

Wake up time by 4:30 am, then we line up for an hour for the buses the way up to Machupicchu, which takes 30 minutes, once we get to Machupicchu, we take you to the viewpoints for take classical photos, and then a private tour in Machupicchu city for a couple of hours.

Afterwards, we take the bus on the way back to Aguas Calientes town, then train to Ollantaytambo for 2 hours, and then a private taxi to Cusco city for 2 hours and drop you off at your hotel.
