On day two, we hike along the Inca Quarry trail through the sun gate for some views of the mountains, then hike through the  Inca quarry and see some Inca tombs, then end up the trek at Ollantaytambo village, denominated living Inca town, afterward, we go with our friendly tour guide for the salt mine Maras, and then back to Cusco city.

Quarry Trail Hike

This Quarry Trail is one of the close hiking mountains to Cusco city, ending in the sacred valley of the Incas, at the place known as Ollantaytambo, which is famous for the Inca site, mainly this 3-day trekking is through the brown Andes with camping and proper camping equipment.

Also, in this hike, you can ride a horse for the difficult part of the entire trip, which is one of the best options to finish this Inca Quarry trek.

  • The first option is on the afternoon ride an afternoon train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes town, then the next day visit Machupicchu.

Quarry Trek Peru

Day 1: Cusco Socma Waterfall Rakaypata Inca Site

The time to pick you up from your place is 6:am. Afterward, we ride our private transport for 1 hour with 25 minutes to the beginning of the trail, called Socma village, where we meet with our team for the trek, firstly we have our first breakfast, then we hike for 50 minutes, arriving at some beautiful waterfall, named Perolniyoc, after that, we keep hiking to the Inca site named Qorimarka for 45 minutes with some uphill. 

Then, we explore the Inca site with some explanation, then we have some lunch, afterward, we hike for an hour to our campsite located at 3,750 masl (12,303ft), then some afternoon tea, then later some dinner.

So, today the hike is short, and have early camping.

Day 2: Qorimarka Kuychiccasa Choquetacarpo Inca Quarry

After some good breakfast, we hike uphill for 2 hours 45 minutes,  arriving to pass named Pucaccasa located at 4370 masl (14,337 ft), and then enjoy the magical views of some snow-capped mountains, and part of the sacred valley,  then we hike for 30 minutes to our lunch place.
Afterward, we hike for 2 hours up and down the road, arriving at the pass named Kuychiccasa located at 4450 masl (14,599ft) then we hike downhill for an hour and 45 minutes, arriving at the sacred sun gate named Wilka Punko for the amazing views, like snow-capped mountains of Veronica and Wakaywilca. then part of the sacred valley of the Incas, after that 35 minutes downhill hike to our campsite named Choquetacarpo located at 3600 masl (11,811ft)

Day 3: Ollantaytambo Salt Mine Maras Moray Cusco

We wake you up with some coca tea, then some breakfast, afterward, we hike downhill for 2 hours,  then we ride our car for an hour to the magic salt mine named Maras and explore this salt mine, then another 40 minutes to the famous rounded terraces named Moray, where the Incas domesticated some tropical plants from the beginning of the amazon jungle-like coca bush, then we ride our car for an hour and 30 minutes, back to Cusco city and dropping you off at your place.

How Hard Is The Inca Quarry Trail?

It is like the traditional Inca trail to Machupicchu with uphills and downhills, but in some way is a little easier than this traditional Inca trail, because this Inca Quarry Trail does not have stone steps, is mainly a dirt path with some sections of grass trail.
